The celeris View in CoL group
This group is characterized by the following character states: mentum with sides rounded, tooth not reaching apices of lobes, paramedian foveal pits indistinct; lateral depressions of pronotum well defined over entire length of pronotum, with well impressed meshed microsculpture; disc of pronotum with hardly distinct meshed microsculpture; posterior angles of pronotum denticulate; elytra with or without orange spot at apical fourth around suture; elytral microsculpture striate, lines indistinct; epipleuron with subapical plica; metasternum and metepisternum without punctures; metasternum with shallow but distinct constriction medially at level of posterior edges of mesocoxae; tarsomeres 5 with relatively long setae underneath; endophallus without sclerotized ring; body size small (SBL ¼ 5.8–7.2 mm).
This group contains only two species, L. celeris Dejean , known from the Coastal Plain and Mexico, south to Chiapas (Allen and Ball 1980:505), and L. cubanus Tschitschérine which is known from the West Indies, Mexico and Costa Rica (Allen 1972:48; Allen and Ball 1980:505). Allen and Ball (1980) also included L. elongatus Allen and L. rectangulus LeConte in this group but I believe they should be placed in a separate group.
