The rectangulus View in CoL group
Members of this group share the following character states: mentum with sides rounded, tooth narrow and not reaching apices of lobes, paramedian foveal pits indistinct; lateral depressions of pronotum with meshed microsculpture; disc of pronotum with well impressed meshed microsculpture; posterior angles of pronotum denticulate; elytra without orange spot at apical fourth around suture; elytral microsculpture striate, lines indistinct; epipleuron with subapical plica; metasternum and metepisternum without punctures; metasternum without or with very shallow constriction medially at level of posterior edges of mesocoxae; tarsomeres 5 without setae underneath; endophallus without sclerotized ring; body size small to medium (SBL ¼ 6.7–8.1 mm).
This group contains two species: one ( L. rectangulus LeConte ) is known from Florida, Bahamas (CNC), Grand Cayman Island and from the east coast of southern Mexico (Allen and Ball 1980:504); the second ( L. elongatus Allen ) is restricted to southern Mexico (Allen and Ball 1980:502). Based on Allen’s (1972:165) phylogeny, L. nocticolor Darlington of Cuba could be closely related to these two species.
