Type species: Pahamunaya layagammeda Schmid , original designation.
Diagnosis: The species in this genus have spur formula 3,4,4; the 2nd segment of each maxillary palp lack a setose mesoapical lobe or cushion, but has instead a small, pointed, dark, spine-like process. The forewings each have a closed discoidal cell, an open median cell, and apical forks 2, 4, and 5; the hind wings each have open discoidal and median cells, and apical forks 2 and 5. In the genitalia, the species are characterized by possessing a large, weakly sclerotized and well-setose segment X. The genus was considered to be closely related to Cernotina by Schmid (1958). The genus is known from the Oriental and Afrotropiocal Regions.
