Cyrnopsis Martynov View in CoL
Cyrnopsis Martynov, 1935: 156 View in CoL .
Type species: Cyrnopsis palpalis , by original designation, monotypic.
Diagnosis: This genus is characterized by having spur formula 3,4,4; maxillary palp formula (I,II)-IV-III-V, where segment 5 is not annulated; the 3rd segment is inserted slightly subapicolaterally on segment 2. The forewings each have closed discoidal and median cells, and apical forks 2, 3, 4, and 5. The hind wings each have an open discoidal cell and apical forks 2 and 5. The genitalia appear similar to those in species of the Dipseudopsidae in having well developed tergite IX and segment X; and particularly are similar to species in the genus Hyalopsyche in having simple rod-like gonopods. The genus is small in number of species, with only 2 previously described species, and is restricted to India and Thailand. In addition, Cp. hittigegamus Schmid from Sri Lanka (earlier placed in Nyctiophylax ) is included in this genus together with a new species from Borneo that is described below. According to Martynov (1935), the genus is related to Cyrnus due to similar wing venation, from which it can be easily distinguished by the shorter maxillary palps that lack the annulated segment 5; the almost rudimental labial palps; and the rod-like gonopods.
