Specimens examined:

Holotype: 3. Äthiopien, Gamo Gofa Prov., Arba Minch, 1300–1500m, 06°00'N / 37°33'E, 24.5.– 4.6.1999, leg. Hiermeier (CRG).

Paratype: Ƥ. Kenya S.E., Taveta env., 16.IV.2004, M. Snizek lgt. (CRG). Length: 9.4mm – 10.3mm (2 specimens).

Head: Black; finely and diffusely punctate to wrinkled.

Antennae: Black-brown; not reaching base of pronotum when laid alongside; A5–A10 serrate. Pronotum: Red; anterior half parallel, constricted towards base; surface anterior to transverse depression slightly wrinkled, coarsely wrinkled behind transverse depression, with four slight elevations on disc and two elevations at base (medially); length:width ratio 1.32:1.

Scutellum: Red-brown.

Elytra: Dark reddish brown to black, each elytron with a yellow lateral spot in the basal third and a yellow transverse fasciae beyond middle spanning from lateral to sutural margins; apex reddish brown; diameter of punctures smaller than interstices, punctures elongate behind fasciae, length:width ratio 2.67:1. Legs: Dark reddish brown to black.

Lower surface: Head and thorax black-brown, abdomen brown.

Vestiture: With yellowish hairs.

Distribution: Kenya.

Etymology: Named after the male dog (Chico) of the senior author.
