Redescription. Body (Figs 8-1A; 8-2A) large and opaque, general color reddish black, covered with miniature-haired punctures throughout whole body. Antennae, labrum, apex of tibiae and tarsi covered with pale yellowish hairs. Pronotum black, marked with reddish pitchy on disk; scutellum black; elytra reddish brown to reddish black, red on tubercles and ridges, dark along elytral suture, basal margin, depressed areas and in punctures; underside mostly black; pygidium dark reddish brown.

Head (Figs 8-1D; 8-2E) mostly reddish black to reddish brown, with a yellowish spot on each side of frons, vertex yellowish brown with a black spot in the middle, also black on occiput and eyes; labrum yellowish brown. General shape round, slightly prominent at mouthparts, densely and coarsely punctured, with a shallow concave on center of vertex and a shallow transverse groove between antennae insertions, raised above clypeus; labrum rectangular, concave at apex, twice as broad as long.

Antennae (Figs.8- 1I; 8-2C) yellowish brown. Scape three times as long as broad, pedicel subglobular, 3rd and 4th segment slender, equal length, 5th slightly dilated, 6–10th flat and broad, serrated, 11th pyriform.

Pronotum (Fig. 8-1F) densely and coarsely punctured, sparser anteriorly and laterally; one large sharp tubercle on each lateral portion, median disc strongly elevated, median longitudinal groove narrow at apex, broaden at base, with two pairs of short ridges close to anterior margin, and a pair of oblique sinuous ridges on each side, joining with the second pair at middle below, and not reaching to posterior margin, also another pair of short ridges at each side of the disc. Scutellum (Fig. 8-1H) prominent anteriorly, posterior-lateral angles strongly produced. Prosternum (Figs 8-1E; 8-2B) triangular, broad at base, prosternal process narrow, with apex bluntly pointed.

Elytra (Fig. 8-2G) truncate apically, lateral sides of elytra oblique; coarsely and sparsely punctured; humeri weakly rugose; suture teeth small, almost thoroughly toothed except for the apex; weakly rugose and raised on basal margin from scutellum to median row; longitudinal ridges sharp, partially connected, tubercles sharp; sutural row consisting of four tubercles, 1st small, 2nd smaller, 3rd merging the 3rd tubercle of median row into a big transverse tubercle, 4th merging with 4th tubercle of median row, weakly ridged between 3rd and 4th; median row consisting of five tubercles, 1st longitudinal, and a small tubercle situated between this one and the 1st of suture row, 2nd merging with the 2nd tubercle of humeral row into a transverse tubercle, 5th a large longitudinal one, weakly ridged between 3rd and 4th; humeral row consisting of three tubercles, 1st small, connecting to the 1st tubercle of median row, 2nd tubercle with a transverse ridge branching outside, 3rd small; lateral row consisting of two tubercles, weakly ridged, 1st transverse, 2nd longitudinal; one big cone-shaped tubercle at the posterior-lateral angle, with a large tubercle consisting of several small tubercles above it. Legs (Fig. 8-1J) yellowish brown, reddish brown on hind legs.

Abdomen (Fig. 8-1G) finely and densely punctured, puncture intervals slightly raised, marked with reddish on each side and on apex of 5th abdominal segment; 1st visible abdominal segment with two tubercles near lateral margins, basal one large, apical one small and obtuse, 5th segment with a large fovea in the middle, the upper opening flat and broad. Pygidium (Figs 8-1C; 8-2F) slightly longer than broad, deeply and sparsely punctured; median longitudinal carina slightly obtuse, lateral carinae distinct, densely and finely punctured, sinuate, the three carinae are close to each other, with a transverse carina connecting at one-third from base, interspaces of these carinae moderately depressed, and the lateral portions more or less deeply depressed, basal margin slightly raised, with a small v-shaped projection on lateral ends.

Aedeagus (Figs 8-3C, 8-3D, 8-3E; 8-4A; 8-4B; 8-4C) with apex of median lobe moderately acute, with several pubescence on each side of the top and ventral side of apex, and sparsely punctured on ventral side of distal part; median orifice with middle sclerite bending inwards beyond surface at one-sixth of median lobe, outline close to outer margin; inner sac broad at the middle, apex part narrow, basal part wider than apex; tegmen thin and weakly sclerotized, almost translucent.

Spermatheca (Figs 8-3B; 8-4D) hook-shaped bending from apex one-third, acute on the apex, dilated, thinner towards middle, base slightly dilated, duct weakly sclerotized, irregularly coiled 6–9 times. Rectal sclerites (Figs 8-3A; 8-4E) moderately sclerotized, slightly connected between the two rectangular sclerites on ventral side, slightly dilated at outer quarter, outer angle acute.

Distribution. China (Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hongkong, Taiwan); Vietnam.

Diagnosis. This species has a similar coloration to C. wuyiensis , but with very strong and sharp tubercles and ridges on pronotum and elytra; ridges on elytra are not continuous; head color-pattern is also different from each other.
