Measurements. BL = 3.5 mm, BW = 2.5 mm, HL = 1 mm, HW = 1 mm, PL = 1.6 mm, PW = 2 mm, EL = 2.45 mm, PYL = 1.15 mm, PYW = 1.2 mm, AL = 1 mm, AA = 125°, SL = 0.25 mm.

Redescription. Body (Figs 10-1A, 10-2A) rather robust, truncate on the apex, mostly glabrous. General color reddish marked with black; pronotum, elytra and pygidium reddish on raised areas, black on depressed areas; underside mostly reddish brown, bottom black, with 5th abdominal segment reddish.

Head (Figs 10-D; 10-E) mostly reddish to orange, black on occiput, a black spot in the middle of vertex, extending to occiput; head nearly round, densely and shallow-coarsely punctured, puncture intervals raised, sparsely arranged on the upper sides of vertex; labrum rather small, rectangular, three times as broad as long, yellowish brown and translucent. Eyes black.

Antennae (Figs 10-1I; 10-2C) reddish brown near base, darker near apex. Scape twice as long as broad, pedicel triangular, 3rd and 4th segment short and slender, length equal, 5th dilated, 6–10th flat and broad, serrated, somewhat compact, 11th round and obtuse.

Pronotum (Fig. 10-1F) densely and deeply punctured, partially sparse on lateral portion of median disc, puncture intervals smooth on lateral portion, raised on disc; anterior declivity flat; one large longitudinal tubercle on the lateral portion, several small tubercles attached to it; disc moderately elevated posteriorly, median longitudinal groove throughout disc, a pair of transverse ridges near anterior margin, with many pairs of irregular ridges throughout disc to posterior margin. Scutellum (Fig. 10-1H) wide, slightly prominent anteriorly and posteriorly, posterior-lateral angles moderately produced. Prosternum (Figs 10-1E; 10-2B) goblet-shaped, lateral projection of prosternal process acute, apex of prosternal process also acute.

Elytra (Fig. 10-2G) with lateral sides oblique, truncate apically; coarsely and moderate-sparsely punctured, denser near base, sparser towards apex; weakly rugose on humeri; suture teeth absent at apex; basal margin rugose and raised from scutellum to median row; longitudinal ridges distinct, tubercles large and sharp; sutural row with three tubercles, 1st obsolete, 2nd rather large, 3rd merging with 3rd tubercle of median row into a big transverse tubercle, weakly ridged between 3rd and 4th, 4th low, merging with 4th tubercle of median row, and a very small tubercle below scutellum near suture; median row consisting of five tubercles, ridged throughout, 1st situated near basal margin, with a small ridge branching towards humeri, 2nd merging with 2nd tubercle of humeral row into a transverse tubercle, 5th at the end of disc, large; humeral row consisting of three tubercles, 1st small, with two short ridges branching upwards, 3rd small; lateral row consisting of two tubercles, 1st transverse, 2nd small; one big coneshape tubercle at the posterior-lateral angle, with a small tubercle above it. Legs (Fig. 10-1J) reddish brown to yellowish brown, with a black stripe in the middle of tibiae.

Abdomen (Fig. 10-1G) densely and finely punctured, puncture intervals moderately raised. First visible abdominal segment with three tubercles near lateral margins, 1st small, 2nd large with a very small short ridge at its inner side, 3rd also small; last visible segment with a shallow and broad fovea in the middle. Pygidium (Figs 10-1C; 10-2F) slightly broader than long, deeply and densely punctured, with median longitudinal carina narrow, a small tubercle at apex; lateral carinae sinuate and punctured, with a transvers carina connecting at one-third from base, where lateral carinae are curved towards median carina, interspaces of these carinae and the lateral portions somewhat deeply depressed, basal margin weakly bordered with raised carina, with a weak projection near lateral ends.

Aedeagus (Figs 10-3C, 10-3D, 10-3E; 10-4A; 10-4B; 10-4C) with apex of median lobe slightly narrower, top truncate, with several pubescence on top of each side, and sparsely punctured on the ventral side of distal part; median orifice with middle sclerite bending inwards above surface at one-quarter of median lobe, and a pair of slender sclerites slightly bending outwards, outline close to outer margin, lower part inclined towards center; inner sac narrowed at base, dilated in the middle, bilobed at apex, narrowed and slightly acute; tegmen moderately sclerotized.

Spermatheca (Figs 10-3B; 10-4D) hook-shaped, bending halfway, very thin and sharp at the apex, even from 1/4 to almost reaching base, narrowed posteriorly, duct moderately sclerotized, very slender, irregularly coiled about 20 times. Rectal sclerites (Figs 10-3A; 10-4E) strongly sclerotized, with no connection between the two sclerites on ventral side, slightly serrated, prominent at lower middle, outer angle more narrowed, truncate, with a small notch above.

Distribution. China (Fujian, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Taiwan).

Diagnosis. This species is very similar to C. rufulus by having similar coloration, but the latter with its pronotum more rounded apically and much weakly ridged; its 5th abdominal segment is red and not black.
