Type material. Holotype: Catalogue No. 28.II. 179, SL: 37 mm, MD: 16 mm, Korytnica ( Poland), illustrated in Bałuk (2003, pl. 4, fig. 7), stored in the Museum of the Geological Survey of Poland, Warsaw ( Poland).

Revised description. Shell medium-sized, solid, moderately broad fusiform; apical angle ~37°. Protoconch low, dome-shaped, of about 1.5–2 whorls. Early teleoconch whorls weakly carinate mid-whorl, angulation formed by elevated, rounded spiral cord, smooth above, with prosocline axial riblets below. Sculpture changing around fourth whorl; narrow subsutural collar bearing wide-spaced pointed tubercles, prominent, weakly tubercular convex spiral cord at mid-whorl marking periphery. Suture narrowly incised, linear. Last whorl 60–65% of total height, stout barrel-shaped. Narrow subsutural collar bearing small tubercles. Narrow concave subsutural ramp. Shoulder delimited by raised vaguely tubercular cord, weakly convex below. Narrow, elevated peribasal cord. Base moderately constricted. Siphonal fasciole not delimited, Narrow secondary spiral cords at mid-whorl and over base. Abapical part of anal sinus elevated and thickened, making sculpture somewhat reticulated. Aperture moderately wide. Outer lip not preserved. Anal sinus wide, moderately deep, asymmetrically U-shaped, with apex coinciding with shoulder cord. Siphonal canal long, straight to weakly deflected to the left. Columellar and parietal callus thickened, well demarcated from base, forming broad rim.

Discussion. ‘Clavatula’ czarnockii is unique in having carinate early whorls, and although its superficial appearance would clearly suggest placement within the Clavatulidae , its early whorl sculpture puts this placement in doubt. Its early teleoconch whorl sculpture with a raised cord at mid-whorl, lack of a suprasutural cord, and the position of the apex of the anal sinus at the shoulder are not typically clavatulid. It was initially established by Bałuk (2003) within Perrona , but it lacks the typical opisthocline comma-shaped axial riblets on the early whorls seen in members of that genus. Spadini & Manganelli (2010) tentatively proposed a placement in Clavatula . We cannot suggest a better placement. Based on its peculiar early sculpture and the unusual morphology of later teleoconch we assume that this species belongs to a yet undescribed Clavatulidae genus. As only few, incompletely preserved specimens are available, however, we refrain from establishing a genus for this species.

Paleoenvironment. Probably middle or outer neritic environments ( Bałuk & Radwański 1977).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (middle Miocene): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Poland) ( Bałuk 2003).
