Type material. Holotype: Z 3076, Kuzmice ( Slovakia), SL: 15.3 mm, MD: 6.9 mm, illustrated in Švagrovský (1958, pl. 4, fig. 5), stored in the Slovak National Museum (Bratislava, Slovakia), figs 17F 1 –F 2, 3Z. Paratypes: Z 3074, illustrated in Švagrovský (1958, pl. 4, figs, 3), figs 16G 1 –G 2; Z 3075, Z 3077, Z 3078, illustrated in Švagrovský (1958, pl. 4, figs, 4, 6, 7), stored in the Slovak National Museum (Bratislava, Slovakia).

Revised description. Shell small, solid, moderately broad buccinoid with conical spire; apical angle ~43°. Protoconch paucispiral of one whorl. Teleoconch of up to nine whorls. Early teleoconch whorls flat-sided, bearing weakly opisthocline axial ribs with tripartite sculpture; two beaded adsutural spiral cords, separated by narrower beaded central cord. Subsutural cord becoming coarsely tuberculose, central and suprasutural band with smaller tubercles, further finely granular secondary spirals intercalated. Suture narrowly impressed, undulating. Last whorl 65% of total height, subcylindrical to weakly ovoid; subsutural collar broad, poorly delimited, weakly tuberculose. Subsutural ramp weakly concave, narrow, with beaded cord running at mid-ramp. Shoulder poorly defined by beaded cord, weakly convex below, weakly angular at peribasal cord. Base weakly constricted. Siphonal fasciole moderately swollen, twisted. Peribasal and perifasciolar cords weakly tuberculose, the tubercles aligned axially to form indistinct axial riblets, with numerous secondary cords of irregular strength intercalated over entire whorl. Aperture wide, ovate. Outer lip not thickened, smooth within. Anal sinus wide, deep, symmetrically U-shaped. Apex coinciding with row of beads mid-ramp. Siphonal canal moderately short, shallowly notched at tip. Columella weakly excavated in upper third, straight below, smooth. Columellar and parietal callus strongly thickened, sharply delimited, forming broad callus rim.

Discussion. Granulatocincta contorta ( Švagrovský, 1958) is slightly reminiscent of Granulatocincta callim nov. sp. The general mode of sculpture is similar in the two species, but G. callim differs in its more subcylindrical last whorl and the sculpture of G. callim is distinctly more crowded and stronger.

The Tortonian, Proto-Mediterranean Granulatocincta sotterii ( Michelotti, 1847) is similar, but differs in its more crowded sculpture, much more prominent beads and more convex last whorl (see Montanaro 1937: 117, pl. 5, figs 2–18; Ruggieri & Davoli 1984, pl. 4, figs 1, 6, 13–14, 18–19, Davoli 1990, pl. 8, figs 2–8). Granulatocincta pelliscrocodili nov. sp., from the Serravallian of Turkey, might be a related species, but differs from G. contorta in its stout shape, the even weaker beads and the delicate spiral sculpture, which overruns the beads.

Paleoenvironment. Inner neritic environments ( Švagrovský 1960b).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Late Badenian (middle Miocene): East Slovakian Basin: Kuzmice ( Slovakia) ( Švagrovský 1958, 1959, 1960a).
