non Clavatula (Clavatula) neudorfensis (F. Schaffer, 1897) — Švagrovský 1981b: 155, pl. 48, fig. 9 [= ‘ Clavatula View in CoL ’ sp.].

Type material. Holotype: NHMW 2021 View Materials /0137/0001, Devínska Nová Ves ( Slovakia), SL: 50.5 mm, MD: 20.2 mm, illustrated in Schaffer (1898, fig. 6), fig. 22F.

Revised description. Shell medium-sized, solid, moderately broad fusiform, with conical spire; apical angle ~33°. Protoconch, early teleoconch whorls and sculpture of early teleoconch whorls not preserved. Teleoconch whorls with tuberculate subsutural cord separated by strongly concave, canaliculate mid-portion from swollen suprasutural cord. Subsutural cord overrun by prominent spiral cords, developing into prominent swollen collar bearing wide spaced, low pointed tubercles (12 on last whorl) placed a short distance from suture. Subsutural collar sharply delimited from mid-whorl concavity. Suture deeply incised, straight. Rounded, slightly protruding shoulder, base strongly constricted. Anal sinus wide, deep, asymmetrically U-shaped, with apex on most concave portion of ramp below collar. Aperture and siphonal canal not preserved.

Discussion. This species is only known from a single fragmentary specimen. As no information on early teleoconch whorls is available, the generic placement is tentative and is mainly based on the similarity with Megaclavatula pilleri nov. sp. and M. grunerti nov. sp. In both species, however, the mid-portion is less concave. In addition, M. pilleri has a shorter spire and the base of M. grunerti is less constricted.

Palaeoenvironment. Only known from the upper Badenian Studienka Formation, which represents middle to outer neritic depositional environments ( Biskupič 2020).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Late Badenian (middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Devínska Nová Ves ( Slovakia) ( Schaffer 1898).
