Type material. BS.011.07.073, syntype, Pino Torinese ( Colli Torinesi , Italy), Burdigalian, stored in the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali Torino ( Italy), illustrated in Bellardi (1877, pl. 6, fig. 28) .

Additional studied material. 1 spec., Letkés ( Hungary), private collection of Zoltán Kovács and Zoltán Vicián (illustrated in Kovács & Vicián 2021, pl. 3, figs 15–16), figs 29A 1 –A 2 .

Revised description (based on Paratethyan material). Medium sized, broad fusiform with gradate conical spire; apical angle ~36°. Protoconch not preserved. Teleoconch of at least ten whorls (earliest whorls not preserved). Early teleoconch whorls with bipartite sculpture of weak, smooth subsutural cord and weakly beaded suprasutural cord, separated by concave mid-portion. Subsutural collar on later whorls weak, indistinct with faint spiral threads on spire whorls. Mid-portion markedly concave. Shoulder weakly angulated, protruding, distinctly above suture. Suture narrow, linear. Last whorl 64% of total height, subsutural collar rounded, very weakly developed. Subsutural ramp broad, concave. Shoulder elevated, roundly angled, bearing faint, opisthocline axial ribs marking whorl periphery, convex below. Base not delimited, strongly constricted. Siphonal fasciole not delimited, weakly rounded, slightly twisted. Surface smooth except for weak shoulder ribs and one or two subobsolete cords over base. Aperture moderately wide, pyriform. Outer lip not thickened, smooth within. Anal sinus moderately deep and wide, symmetrically U-shaped with apex mid-ramp. Base convex, rapidly contracting into long, moderately narrow siphonal canal, slightly deflected to the left. Columella weakly convex, smooth. Columellar and parietal callus weakly thickened, forming broad rim.

Discussion. ‘Clavatula’ inedita Bellardi, 1877 is based on a shell with high, slender conical spire with very weak, smooth subsutural collar, a concave whorl profile and a strongly protruding shoulder bearing faint, opisthocline beads. Its base is strongly constricted passing rapidly into a long and narrow siphonal canal. The surface is smooth, except for weak opisthocline ribs at the shoulder and even weaker spiral cords on the base. Serravallian specimens from Turkey, recorded by Landau et al. (2013), correspond to that Italian morphotype. However, placement in Perrona is incorrect, as this species lacks comma-shaped axial riblets on early teleoconch whorls, as is typical for Perrona species (see Landau et al. 2013, pl. 74, fig. 2). The bipartite early teleoconch sculpture excludes a placement in Megaclavatula and in the otherwise slightly reminiscent ‘ Clavatula interrupta group. Therefore, we treat this species as ‘ Clavatula ’. The specimen from Letkés ( Hungary), described herein and by Kovács & Vicián (2021) as Perrona inedita , agrees generally with ‘ Clavatula inedita , but has a wider apical angle, a broader last whorl and a shorter siphonal canal. Further material is required to decide on the status of the Paratethyan occurrence.

Paleoenvironment. The occurrence at Letkés in Hungary suggests inner neritic environments ( Kovács & Vicián 2013).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (middle Miocene): Pannonian Basin: Letkés ( Hungary) ( Kovács & Vicián 2021).

Proto-Mediterranean Sea: Burdigalian (early Miocene): Colli Torinesi: Pino Torinese ( Italy) ( Bellardi 1877).

Serravallian (middle Miocene): Karaman Basin: Akboðaz, Akpýnar, Tilkikaya ( Turkey) ( Landau et al. 2013).
