Type material. Lectotype designated herein: Inv. No. 6582-153/1, SL: ~ 33 mm, MD: ~ 14 mm; Zaprešić-Brijeg at Samobor ( Croatia) illustrated in Šuklje (1929: 36, pl. 3, figs 2a), stored in the Natural History Museum in Zagreb ( Croatia), figs 38B 1 –B 2 . Paralectotype: Inv. No. 6582-153/1, SL: ~ 30 mm, MD: ~ 13 mm; Zaprešić-Brijeg at Samobor ( Croatia), illustrated in Šuklje (1929: 36, pl. 3, figs 2c–d), stored in the Natural History Museum in Zagreb ( Croatia) .

Milan et al. (1974) erroneously referred to a holotype, although Šuklje (1929) illustrated two syntypes.

Revised description. Shell medium-sized, moderately solid, broad fusiform; apical angle ~44°. Protoconch not preserved. Teleoconch of nine whorls. Early teleoconch whorls weakly concave, with two narrow adsutural spiral cords separated by wide interspace bearing close-set opisthocline axial riblets. Sculpture fading out on fourth to fifth teleoconch whorls. Later teleoconch whorls subcylindrical with broad, rounded, weakly delimited subsutural collar, slightly concave at mid-whorl, weakly convex in abapical half. Suture narrowly incised, linear. Last whorl ~65% of total height, broad, subcylindrical. Broad, rounded, smooth, poorly-delimited subsutural collar. Subsutural ramp of medium width, flattened to very slightly concave. Shoulder not developed, roundly angular at base. Base moderately constricted. Siphonal fasciole weakly swollen with distinct growth increments. No spiral sculpture. Aperture moderately wide, pyriform. Outer lip not thickened, smooth within. Anal sinus moderately wide and deep, asymmetrically U-shaped, with apex at mid-ramp. Siphonal canal moderately long and wide, slightly deflected to left, with shallowly notched tip. Columella weakly excavated, twisted at fasciole, smooth. Columellar and parietal callus thin, adherent, moderately delimited from base, forming broad rim.

Discussion. This species was published by Šuklje (1929) in a rarely cited paper and was overlooked by most subsequent authors. Mikuž (2009) was aware of the paper, but considered Perrona ernae to be a junior synonym of Perrona floriana ( Hilber, 1879) , which has a more conical spire and differs in its prominent spiral cords. Due to its convex whorls and smooth shell surface, Perrona ernae is reminiscent of Pusionella Gray, 1847 . However, the resemblance is superficial, as it differs in lacking the generic characters of Pusionella ; a much deeper anal sinus, the absence of a raised ridge delimiting the siphonal fasciole, and by the Perrona - type sculpture of opisthocline axial riblets on early teleoconch whorls. The absence of a prominent subsutural collar distinguishes P. ernae from members of the P. perrona group and the P. eleonorae group.

Perrona salinensis ( Peyrot, 1931) , from the Serravallian of Salies-de-Béarn ( France), is an Atlantic counterpart of P. ernae , but has a weaker collar and a more ovoid outline (see Peyrot, 1931, pl. 7, figs 74–76).

Paleoenvironment. Specimens from the Korneuburg Basin derive from coastal inner neritic environments in an estuary ( Harzhauser et al. 2002).

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Karpatian (early Miocene): Korneuburg Basin: Kleinebersdorf, Weinsteig ( Austria) (Harzhauser 2002); Badenian (middle Miocene): Pannonian Basin: Várpalota (Faller Street) ( Hungary) ( Katona et al. 2011), Zaprešić-Brijeg at Samobor ( Croatia) ( Šuklje 1929); Krka Basin: Dolenja Stara vas ( Slovenia) ( Mikuž 2009).
