Comment on Asthenini

The eggs of both Australian species share several common distinctive features with the Nearctic asthenines Hydrelia lucata Guenée and Venusia comptaria Walker ( Salkeld 1983) . These species also have very broad, humped cell walls with very small, inconspicuous aeropyles with small openings situated centrally on the humps. The quilted appearance of the surface of the egg of P. xylocyma is very similar to that of H. lucata .
