Mnesampela Guest View in CoL (Figs 284–310)
This moderately large genus of seven species is distributed widely in southern Australia except for an outlying species in eucalypt forest in northeastern Australia ( McQuillan 1985). The eggs of four species are described. Mnesampela eggs are similar in appearance and are generally moderately broad to broad and suboblong to bluntly ovoid. The surface is marked all over by hexagonal, flat or convex cells with moderately broad elevated walls that form a meshlike reticulum. Cells in the middle of the top wide side are flat or concave and lack aeropyles. The micropylar cells are slightly recessed with narrow elevated walls. The eggs of M. privata Guenée vary from those of their congeners described here by their relatively unmarked surface and unusual arrangement of the aeropyles on the narrow lateral sides. As well as the similarities shared with Fisera , Paralaea Guest and Thalaina Walker Mnesampela eggs also share some features with Melanodes (see above) and Plesanemma McQuillan (see below).
