Genus Vietnamodes Leraut, 2017

Vietnamodes Leraut, 2017: 155 . Type species: Vietnamodes adelinae Leraut, 2017 .

Generic characters. Adult. Wingspan 12.5–19.5 mm. Vertex covered with erect scales. Labial palpus slim and upturned. Maxillary palpus tiny, filiform. Forewing ground color grayish brown, ante- and postmedial lines pale yellowish brown, terminal area brownish purple. Hindwing reddish brown or grayish brown, ante- and postmedial lines conspicuous, usually bordered by fuscous lines. Venation ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–3 ): forewing with 12 veins, R 3 and R 4 stalked from 1/2 length of R 3, R 5 stalked with R 3+4 at basal 1/4, R 3+4+5 and M 1 connate at upper angle of cell, M 2 and M 3 stalked for 1/5 length at lower angle of cell, CuA 1 from before lower angle of cell; hindwing with 10 veins, Sc+R 1 and Rs adjacent near upper angle of cell, Rs and M 1 connate at upper angle of cell, M 2 and M 3 connate at lower angle of cell, CuA 1 and CuA 2 free.

Male genitalia. Uncus rhombic or ovate, setose dorsally; gnathos with lateral arm slim, distal process dilated and hooked distally. Valva smooth basally, hairy distally, ventral margin usually convex; sacculus narrowly banded, with thorns or free distal extension near apex. Juxta concave in V-shaped posteriorly. Vinculum short. Phallus with basal part flat, distal part cylindrical, cornuti present or not.

Female genitalia. Papillae anales short and simple. Apophyses posteriores and anteriores slim and sinuous. Antrum and colliculum membranous. Ductus bursae slim, scobinate on inner surface. Corpus bursae membranous and usually elongated, signum absent.

Diagnosis. Vietnamodes somewhat resembles Maradana Moore, 1884 superficially. It can be distinguished from the latter by the apex of sacculus bearing a cluster of thorns or tiny thorns (without any thorns at apex of sacculus in Maradana ), and the phallus with the posterior half rod-like and flat (evenly cylindrical posteriorly in Maradana ) in the male genitalia; in the female genitalia, by the corpus bursae elongated (rounded in Maradana ).

Remarks. The genus Vietnamodes is only distributed in Vietnam, which is recorded for the first time in China. Its hostplant and biology are unknown.
