Identification. Perennial tussock grass, 0.6–1.8 m height. Leaf-blades linear, 23–60 cm long, 0.2–0.6 mm wide, usually hairy at the abaxial side, ligulate. Characteristic for its branched, contracted corymbiform inflo- rescence, with soft white hairs.

Common name. Capim-rabo-de-burro; Capim-vassoura

Remarks. Common species, occurring on roadsides and places with seasonal flooding.

Brazilian range. All Brazilian territory.
