Aegus siamensis Kriesche, 1922: 125 . Type locality: Siam. Benesh 1960: 106; Maes 1992: 104; Krajcik 2003: 29; Pinratana & Maes 2003: 242.

Distribution. Siam (precise locality unknown).

Remarks. Kriesche (1922) noted that this species resembles Aegus impressicollis Parry, 1864 and only provided “ Siam ” [= Thailand] as its type locality. Moreover, the original description did not provide any illustration of this species and the description is relatively vague and cannot be used to distinguish this species from A. impressicollis . According to Krajcik (2003), the type specimen was in Nagel’s collection then likely donated to Landesmuseum Hannover, Germany and destroyed during the Second World War. The authors have contacted Landes Museum, Hannover, Germany and confirm that the type specimen cannot be found (C. Schilling, personal communication, 8 January 2024).
