Ocnosispa Weise 1910: 113 View in CoL (as a subgenus of Sceloenopla View in CoL ). Type species: Chalepus cardinalis GuérinMéneville (designated by Uhmann 1957). Staines 2002: 748 View Cited Treatment (new status).
Varying in form. Head: medial sulcus present. Antenna: with 11 antennomeres, apical 4 antennomeres shorter than preceding 4; antennomere I globular, small; II subcylindrical, twice length of I; IIIVI cylindrical, IV longest. Pronotum: longer than wide, flattened; margined laterally; basal impression absent; tooth present or absent in each anterior angle. Scutellum: cuspidate. Elytron: humerus produced; exterior apical angle toothed or not; with 10 rows of punctures plus scutellar row; 4 costae, 2nd costa highly carinate. Leg: elongate, especially anterior pair.
