Diagnosis. Female: Head dark brown with lower paraocular area, labrum and lateral sides of clypeus yellow ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Mesoscutum and mesoscutellum covered with yellow hairs ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Metasoma with greenish metallic reflections along its entire surface (Fig. 2). T2 and T3 with brown, simple and dense hairs. T4 with white yellowish, short and simple pubescence interrupted by a longitudinal band of dark brown hairs on the disc. Male: unknown.
This species resembles Centris quadrimaculata and C. mocsaryi by the pattern of the yellow spots of the head. However, it differs from these species by the coloration of the hairs on the mesoscutum and mesoscutellum, integument of metasoma, and shape of the secondary basitibial plate. In C. quadrimaculata the hairs on the mesoscutum and mesoscutellum are dark brown ( Figs. 11, 12 View FIGURES 11 − 14 ) or yellowish with brown tips whereas in C. mocsaryi ( Figs. 5 View FIGURES 5 and 6 , 6) they are dark brown with yellowish brown or slightly orange hairs; the greenish metallic reflections on the metasoma that characterizes C. celadonia new species, are absent in C. quadrimaculata and C. mocsaryi ; and the secondary basitibial plate is distinctly projected in C. celadonia new species whereas it is slightly projected in C. quadrimaculata and C. mocsaryi .
Description. Holotype female ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 , 2). Measurements: body length: 21.3; head width: 6.5; thorax width: 9.0; forewing length: 16.2; UID: 2.7; LID: 2.9; mandible length: 2.8; mandible basal width: 0.9; labrum length: 0.9; labrum width: 1.7; F1 length: 1.2; F2 length: 0.3; F3 length: 0.4; scape length: 0.9; diameter of median ocellus: 0.4; distance between lateral ocellus and eye: 0.6. Coloration: Integument dark brown. Lower paraocular area yellow ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Clypeus with yellow spot laterally ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Labrum with a yellow spot near upper margin ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Metasoma dark brown with greenish metallic reflections (Fig. 2). Wing membranes and veins dark brown with greenish iridescence. Sculpture: Clypeus areolate with coarse and dense punctures towards laterosuperior margin, scattered on disc. Clypeal disc with smooth irregular area on upper half, with short, not well-developed longitudinal carina. Labrum with fine and dense punctation, except yellow area with scattered punctures, almost smooth. T1–T3 with fine, very dense, uniform punctures. T4 and T5 with similar punctation to basal terga, slightly coarser and scattered than on preceding terga. Pubescence: Head with dark brown hairs, except occiput with yellowish hairs ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 , 2), labrum with yellow pubescence mixed with dark brown hairs. Base of antenna with yellowish hairs ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Mesoscutum and mesoscutellum with yellow hairs ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 , 2). Mesepisternum with brown hairs laterally, brown yellowish pubescence ventrally (Fig. 2). Fore and middle legs with dark brown hairs (except femora with yellowish pubescence) (Fig. 2). Scopa yellow (Fig. 2). T1 with dark brown, long, plumose hairs laterally. T2 and T3 with dark brown, very short, dense pubescence, with some brown, long, simple, scattered hairs intermixed. T4 with mostly simple, white yellowish dense hairs, with some plumose hairs on distal margin. Disc of T4 with band of dark brown, short, simple hairs. T5 with white yellowish, short, simple pubescence, with some dark brown, long, simple hairs intermixed. Prepygidial fimbria with orange, simple and plumose hairs intermixed. Pygidial fimbria with orange brown hairs. Distal margins of sterna with yellowish, long, branched hairs, longer and darker on distal sterna. Structures: Flabellum elliptical, not projected apically. Maxillary palpus with four palpomeres (length: 2nd>3rd>1st≈4th). Mandible apically curved with four teeth of acute apex (length: 1st>2nd>3rd≈4th) ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Area between posterior margin of fourth tooth and trimal angle with small laminar projection. Trimal angle well-developed, acute. Acetabular carina reaching base of fourth tooth. Clypeus with upper half slightly convex, lower half slightly concave in lateral view. Labrum elliptical, slightly projected on distal margin medially ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Vertex above upper interorbital tangent. Eyes subparallel, slightly converging dorsally ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 and 2 ). Fore elaiospathe with primary anterior comb located below strigilar cavity. Secondary anterior comb formed by four giant, long, apically curved hairs. Hind elaiospathe with hairs forming compact comb. Basitibial plates relatively elliptical, with secondary plate projected backwards, with posterior edge emarginated beyond posterior margin of primary plate. Primary pygidial plate triangular with slightly rounded apex. Secondary pygidial plate welldeveloped with closed acute apex. Claws with poorly developed preapical tooth only in fore and middle legs.
Type material. Holotype female with the following data: Colombia, Huila, Villa Vieja N3º13’10” W75º13’08” 440 msnm 18-mar-2014 Col: Diego Riaño (UMNG). Paratype: one female with the following label data: Santa Cecilia, Ecuador Napo Prov. -C. Dodson XI-13-1972 (FSCA). The paratype differs from the holotype in having the labrum completely yellow and the pubescence on mesoscutum and mesoscutellum with dark yellow tips.
