Distribution: Australia, India (Andaman and Nicobar Is.), Indonesia (Java, Sumatra, Sumbawa, Sulawesi, Ternate), Malaysia (E.), New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Is. New to Taiwan. [4]

New record: Formosa, Chipon, 25.iii.1935 (M. Chûjô) (1) .

Hosts: Polyphagous. Wood and Bright (1992) list only a single host, Sterculia alata (Sterculiaceae) , but there are records from numerous other genera and families (e. g. Kalshoven 1959; Ohno et al. 1989; Schedl 1966b). Biology: Kalshoven (1959) describes the gallery system and brood sizes.

Taxonomy: Listed by Wood & Bright (1992) in the genus Ambrosiodmus , but transferred to Euwallacea by Hulcr and Cognato (2010).
