90. Debus emarginatus (Eichhoff)
Xyleborus emarginatus Eichhoff, 1878a: 392 .
Distribution: From the Nicobar Islands and China (WP) in the West through southeast Asia, the Philippines and Indonesia to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in the East, northwards to Japan and Taiwan. Recorded from Taiwan as its synonym X. exesus Blandford. [4]
Hosts: Polyphagous ( Wood & Bright 1992). Biology: The biology and gallery system are described by Browne (1961) and Kalshoven (1959).
Taxonomy: This is a rather variable species. Xyleborus exesus was synonymised with X. emarginatus by Schedl (1973 as X. excesus [sic]), but considered a distinct species by Wood and Bright (1992). The species is transferred to Debus Hulcr and Cognato and the synonymy reinstated by Hulcr and Cognato (2010).
