Xyleborus similis Ferrari, 1867: 23 .
Distribution: Throughout the Oriental region from the Indian subcontinent through southeast Asia and Indonesia to New Guinea, Australia and the Pacific islands; tropical Africa, Indian Ocean islands. Imported and established but apparently not invasive in the U.S.A. ( Haack 2006). [6]
Hosts: Strongly polyphagous ( Browne 1961; Schedl 1963).
Biology: The biology is described by Browne (1961), Kalshoven (1964) and Schedl (1963).
Taxonomy: Listed by Wood and Bright (1992) in Xyleborus , but transferred to Wallacellus by Hulcr and Cognato (2010).
