Anodius piceus Motschulsky, 1863: 512 View in CoL .

Distribution: Throughout the Oriental region from the Indian subcontinent through Southeast Asia, Indonesia to New Guinea and the Western Pacific islands; tropical Africa, Madagascar and the Seychelles. Recorded from Taiwan in timber imported to Japan ( Browne 1980c as Xyleborus indicus ). The presence of the species in Taiwan can now be confirmed. [6]

New records: Kaohsiung, Shanping forest recreation area, near Liukuei , 22°58’16’’N, 120°41’15’’, swept, 19–21.xi.2008 (L. Ronkay, O. Merkl) (2); Nantou, Hui Son, 18.ii.2006, 17.xi.2006 (L. Y. Liu) (2); Neimoupu, ex funnel trap, 16.xi.2004 (C. S. Lin) (1) .

Hosts: Polyphagous ( Schedl 1963; Wood & Bright 1992).

Biology: The biology is described by Browne (1961), Kalshoven (1959) and Schedl (1963).

Taxonomy: Listed by Wood and Bright (1992) in Euwallacea , but transferred to Wallacellus by Hulcr and Cognato (2010).
