71. Ambrosiodmus lewisi (Blandford) View in CoL
Xyleborus lewisi Blandford, 1894a:104 .
Ozopemon tuberculatus Strohmeyer, 1912: 38 View in CoL . n. syn.
Distribution: From India through Southeast Asia and southern China to Taiwan, Japan and Korea in the North, the Philippines and the Indonesian islands West of Wallace’s line. Established but apparently not invasive in the U.S. A ( Haack 2006). [4]
Hosts: Polyphagous, but perhaps with a preference for Dipterocarpaceae in the southern part of its range, and Fagaceae in the northern part ( Browne 1961). Recorded from 10 families and 14 genera in Taiwan by Murayama (1934a), and from Brownea capitella (Leguminosae) in Taiwan by Huang et al. (2003).
Taxonomy: Ozopemon tuberculatus was described from Taiwan. We have examined two syntypes of the species (DEI), and syntypes of A.lewisi (NHML) , and compared them with specimens of A. lewisi from Indonesia (Sumatra), Taiwan and Thailand in RAB. There can be no doubt of the identity of the two species. One of the syntypes of O. tuberculatus bears a determination label of Eggers dated 1942 as Xyleborus tegalensis Eggers. However , this determination was never published. Xyleborus tegalensis is a synonym of Ambrosiodmus lewisi ( Schedl 1962, Wood & Bright 1992). Accordingly, we here synonymise O. tuberculatus with A. lewisi .
