Bostrichus autographus Ratzeburg, 1837: 160 .
Distribution: A holarctic species occurring throughout the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions. Introduced into Brazil ( Wood 2007). [2b]
Hosts: Picea , Pinus , rarely on Abies , Larix (Pinaceae) . No hosts have been recorded in Taiwan.
Biology: The gallery system and biology are described by Chararas (1962) and Kolk and Starzyk (1996). It is a secondary species attacking only dying, injured or felled trees. Gibb et al. (2006a, b) and Johansson et al. (2006) have investigated the effect of stand type, log treatment and site on abundance in Sweden.
