Hosts: Pinus spp. (Pinaceae) .

Biology: Many aspects of the biology of the species have been studied by Sasakawa and colleagues (Sasakawa 1975; Sasakawa & Katayama 1975; Sasakawa & Kawaguchi 1987; Sasakawa & Negishi 1973; Sasakawa, Ohta & Negishi 1976; Sasakawa & Sasakawa 1981). More recently, it has been used to vector the pathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana in attempts to control the larvae of the cerambycid, Monochamus alternatus Hope , an important vector of the pinewood nematode ( Kinuura et al. 1999).
