Parerigone tianmushana Chao & Sun View in CoL in Chao et al., 1990: 231. Holotype male (IZCAS). Type locality: China, Zhejiang, Mt. Tianmu (30.4°N 119.5°E), 1200 m.— Chao et al., 1998: 2167 ( China).— O’Hara et al., 2009: 132 (Chinese catalogue).— Shima, 2011: 682 (notes).
Diagnosis. Medium-sized black flies with dense grayish pruinosity. Vertex about 0.15 of head width; gena 0.32–0.35 of eye height, covered with black hairs; parafacial slightly less than 1st flagellomere width at midheight, the latter about 1.8 times as long as pedicel; pedicel with short black hairs; arista with micro-pubescence; antenna brown to black; palpus reddish yellow. Anatergite with fine hairs; thoracic dorsum with black hairs, pleura with pale yellowish hairs; scutellum with 4 pairs of marginal setae; basicosta dark brown or black; legs black; dark reddish brown on middle portions of tibiae; mid tibia with 2 anterodorsal and 1 ventral setae; hind tibia with 2 preapical dorsal setae. Abdomen with dorsum covered with dense grayish pruinosity, with black hairs, pale yellow hairs confined to ventral surface; mid-dorsal excavation of syntergite 1+2 extending to its anterior 2/3.
Type material examined. Holotype male, CHINA: Zhejiang, Mt. Tianmu (30.4°N 119.5°E), 1200 m, 12.vi.1987, X.K. Sun. Paratypes. 20 males 1 female, same locality as holotype, 12, 17.vi.1987, X.K. Sun ( IZCAS). Distribution. China (Shaanxi, Zhejiang).
