Description of Microvirga tunisiensis BT 288

Cells are Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-flagellated and oval-shaped. Colonies grown on R2 A agar are light brown and circular. Oxidase activity is positive. In the API 20NE test, cells are positive for esculin hydrolysis; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatinase, β -galactosidase, and assimilation of D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malate, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid. Strain BT 288 (= NIBRBAC000508867) was isolated from a soil sample collected from Uijeongbu, Republic of Korea (37°44 ʹ 23.0 ʺ N 127°01 ʹ 28.0 ʺ E) GoogleMaps .
