Afrotropical: 1) Djibouti, 2) Ethiopia, 3) Somalia (Apanaskevich & Horak 2009).
Hyalomma somalicum was reinstated by Apanaskevich & Hoogstraal (2009), replacing Hyalomma erythraeum , a synonym of Hyalomma impeltatum (see above).
Pegram et al. (1982b) listed Hyalomma somalicum (under the name Hyalomma erythraeum ) as a tick found in Yemen, but Apanaskevich & Horak (2009) reported that the specimens were in fact Hyalomma dromedarii . The latter authors doubt the introduction of Hyalomma somalicum into Saudi Arabia, as reported by Hoogstraal et al. (1981). Yemen and Saudi Arabia are therefore not included within the geographic distribution of Hyalomma somalicum .
