status

5. Rhipicephalus armatus Pocock, 1900 View in CoL .

Afrotropical: 1) Ethiopia, 2) Kenya, 3) Somalia, 4) Tanzania, 5) Uganda ( Walker 1974, Pegram 1976, Morel 1980, Matthysse & Colbo 1987, Walker et al. 2000, Kolonin 2009).

Morel (1980) included Eritrea within the geographic distribution of Rhipicephalus armatus , but Walker et al. (2000) noted that Morel based his decision on a reference that does not support this statement. Norval (1985b) reexamined two specimens of Rhipicephalus armatus found in Zimbabwe, but he was not convinced that this tick occurs there; consequently, Zimbabwe is provisionally excluded from the range of Rhipicephalus armatus .
