91. Amblyomma parvum Arag View in CoL View at ENA ã o, 1908a.

Neotropical: 1) Argentina, 2) Bolivia, 3) Brazil, 4) Colombia, 5) Costa Rica, 6) El Salvador, 7) Guatemala, 8) Mexico (south), 9) Nicaragua, 10) Panama, 11) Paraguay, 12) Venezuela ( Nava et al. 2008, Guzmán-Cornejo et al. 2011, Ḑttmann et al. 2016, Santodomingo et al. 2019, Costa et al. 2020, Guglielmone et al. 2021, Romero et al. 2021).

French Guiana was included within the geographic distribution of Amblyomma parvum in Guglielmone et al. (2003), Nava et al. (2017) and Guglielmone & Robbins (2018). The supposed presence of this species in French Guiana was based on a nymph collected from a rodent, as reported in Floch & Fauran (1958). However, Binetruy et al. (2019) were unable to confirm the presence of Amblyomma parvum in French Guiana, and that territory is excluded from the range of this tick.

Lado et al. (2016) found that specimens of Amblyomma parvum from Costa Rica, El Salvador, southern Mexico and Panama differ molecularly from specimens collected in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Consequently, Bermúdez et al. (2018) named ticks found in Panama Amblyomma near parvum . Further studies will probably confirm that more than one species exists under the name Amblyomma parvum , and the geographic distribution of this tick will need to be modified accordingly.
