Afrotropical: 1) Burundi, 2) Democratic Republic of the Congo, 3) Kenya, 4) Rwanda, 5) South Africa ( Elbl & Anastos 1966 b, Walker 1974, Kolonin 2009, Horak et al. 2018).

Ixodes ugandanus djaronensis from Ethiopia in Nuttall & Warburton (1911) was treated as a new species, Ixodes brumpti , in Morel (1965a) and as Ixodes procaviae in Keirans (1985b). Ethiopia is therefore provisionally excluded from the range of Ixodes procaviae .
