Type locality. Near St. Augustine’s Island , Pitt’s Island Kingsmills Group ( Dana 1852) .
Record from Thailand. South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Habitat and depth. Marine, depth: 60 m ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .
Distribution. This species is widely distributed in the warm-water region of the Indo-West Pacific, from western Pacific (G.O. Sars 1885; Ii 1964; Murano & Fukuoka 2008); central Pacific ( Ortmann 1905; W.M. Tattersall 1943; 1951; Murano & Fukuoka 2008); eastern Pacific ( Ortmann 1894; Hansen 1912; Colosi 1924; Coifmann 1937a; W.M. Remarks. This species is placed within the Thompsonii-subgroup and can be distinguished from the other species in this group by the presence of small eyes, short antennal scale and posterior margin of the telson with single pair of long spines ( Biju & Panampunnayil 2011).
