Type locality. Atlantic Ocean ( Willemoes-Suhm 1873).

Record from Thailand. South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).

Habitat and depth. Marine, depth: 651 m ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .

Distribution. This species has a wide distribution from tropical to temperate waters (Hensen 1910; Fukuoka & Murano 2022; Meland & Aas 2013; Hendrickx 2019).

Remarks. 22 species of Gnathopausia have been described whereas 11 are at present considered valid ( Mees & Meland 2022b).
