1. More information about these two species and why they have not been named can be found in Ebejer (2021d).

2. Species in the large genus Phytomyza are paraphyletic and among them are some groups that some authors still recognize at the generic rank ( Tschirnhaus 2021). Here, we follow the opinion that provides the strongest evidence for Napomyza and Ptochomyza to be classified as subgenera of Phytomyza and for Chromatomyia to be synonymised with Phytomyza ( Winkler et al. 2009) .
