Glipostenoda ambusta (LeConte, 1862)
There are several records of emergence from various wood pieces of hardwood trees, including moderately to extensively decayed wood in Tennessee (n = 3, Ferro et al. 2012), twigs in Louisiana (n = 2, Ferro and Nguyen 2016), and from hickory in Pennsylvania ( Liljeblad 1945). Additionally, roughly 100 adult mordellids were observed congregating on a partially live tuliptree ( Liriodendron tulipifera L.; Magnoliaceae ) in Oklahoma, and four individuals were reared from a dead but solid section of the trunk, with bark missing and other exit holes present ( Lu 2006). These latter records are only identified to genus, but presumably refer to G. ambusta as it is the sole species of this genus known to occur in North America (Jackman and Lu 2002).
