Type locality. Virgin Islands, Caribbean Sea .

Ecology. Epilithic in the intertidal and the shallow parts of the sublittoral zone.

Distribution. Based on Muylle (2000: 91–92): Australia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Oman, Pakistan, Réunion ( Muylle, 2000: 86), Rodrigues (this paper), Saudi Arabia,

South Africa, Tanzania, Yemen.

Note. The specimens of HEC 14681 present some sporangia on the upper thallus surface.
