Ecology. Very abundant in middle and low intertidal; epilithic.

Distribution. Andaman Islands, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Laccadives, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius ( Børgesen, 1941: 61–62, 1948: 49), Mozambique, Pakistan, Réunion ( Jadin, 1935: 159 ~ Hydroclathrus sinuosus (Mertens ex Roth) Zanardini ), Rodrigues ( Dickie, 1877a: 6, as Asperococcus sinuosus (C. Agardh) Zanardini ), Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Yemen.
