Diagnosis:— Species nova ad F. platycarpam et F. pauciradiatam affinis sed habito, lobis foliorum latitudine et fructus figura valde distincta A priore ( F. platycarpa ) insuper differt foliis omnino glabris, laciniis linearibus plus quam 0.5 mm latis, et fructus costis prominentibus; a posteriore ( F. pauciradiata ) insuper discrepat inflorescentia thyrsoideo-paniculata, et umbellulis 6–16-floribus instructis.

Description:― Glabrous, perennial herbs. Stem 75–120 cm, terete, sulcate, usually branching in the middle and upper parts, solid, ca 3–5 mm in diameter at base. Basal leaves numerous, ovate-orbicular in outline, 20–30 × 8–24 cm; petiole 4–10 cm ± with a basal sheath, sulcate, glabrous; lamina 3–4-pinnate, ultimate lobes glabrous, linear, 3–10 mm × 1–1.8 mm, mucronate to acuminate. All stem leaves reduced to sheaths, ovate to lanceolate, glabrous, slightly sulcate, with white-membranous margins. Synflorescence paniculate-corymbose. Umbel bracts 3–5, broadly linear-oblong, 2–6 mm × 1–2 mm, acuminate, herbaceous, ± glaucous, with whitish margins. Rays 4–6, unequal, 2–7 cm long. Umbellules 5–17-flowered; pedicels 4–6.5 mm, fruiting pedicels 6.5–9 mm. Bracteoles 3–5, broadly linear-lanceolate to ovate, acuminate, herbaceous, ± slightly glaucous, with whitish margins, 2–4 mm × 1–1.5 mm. Calyx teeth triangular. Petals yellow, glabrous, 1.5–2 mm, broadly elliptic-rotundate, entire with inflexed tip. Mericarps 12–13 × 8–10 mm, broadly obovate-elliptic, glabrous, lateral wings 1–3 mm.

Phenology:― Flowering time is from June to July.

Eponymy:― The new species is named in honour of Prof. Dr. H. Aşkın Akpulat, who has greatly contributed to the taxonomy of Apiaceae .

Distribution and ecology:― Dry gypsiferous soils at ca 1400 m elevation. The new species has been found around the Seyfebeli-cold çermik road junction, on the Sivas-Erzincan road, an area between Sivas and İmranlı that shows gypsiferous and calcareous bedrock. The Tödürge and Lota Lakes close to this area were formed as a result of karst depression. The principal geological material of this region (called Kızılırmak basin) is constituted by limestone, gypsum and marl.

Common species in the area are Achillea sintenisii Hub. -Mor., Anthemis fumariifolia Boiss. , Artemisia austriaca Jacq. , Helichrysum noeanum Boiss. , Bupleurum croceum Fenzl. , Bupleurum rotundifolium L., Ferula szowitsiana DC. , Turgenia latifolia (L.) Hoffm., Gundelia tournefortii L., Moltkia coerulea (Willd.) Lehm. , Paracaryum racemosum (Shreb,) Britten var. rasemosum , Chrysochamela noeana (Boiss.) Boiss. , Gypsophila eriocalyx Boiss. , Minuartia anatolica (Boiss.) Woron. var. tetrasticha McNeill. , Astragalus aucheri Boiss. , Astragalus microcephalus Willd. , Hypericum thymopsis Boiss. , Phlomis physocalyx Hub. -Mor., Salvia multicaulis Vahl. , Salvia virgata Jacq. , Thymus sipyleus Boiss. subsp. rosulans (Borbas.)
