Stathmopoda callicarpicola Terada, 2012
( Figs 23 View FIGURES 20‒26 , 48 View FIGURES 46‒51 , 68 View FIGURES 67‒71 )
Stathmopoda callicarpicola Terada, 2012: 52 . TL: Japan. TD: KGU.
Material examined. CHINA, Zhejiang: 2♂ 2♀ , Kaishanlaodian, Mt. Tianmu , 1140 m, 17.VIII.1999, leg. HH Li, slide Nos. GW 15185 ♀, GW15201 ♀, GW15186 ♂, WAL19123 ♂.
Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. gemmiconsuta Terada, 2012 in male genitalia. It can be distinguished by the forewing lacking a brown streak from the outer margin of the second fascia to apex, and the uncus rounded at apex in the male genitalia. In S. gemmiconsuta , the forewing has a slender brown streak extending from outer margin of the second ventral patch to apex, and the uncus is straight at apex. This species is also similar to S. flavescens Kuznetzov, 1984 , and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the latter species.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 20‒26 ). Wingspan 11.5‒12.0 mm. Head with frons and vertex silvery white; occiput pale yellow. Labial palpus cream white on inner surface, pale yellow on outer surface. Antenna yellow. Collar pale yellow; thorax and tegula pale yellow. Forewing yellow; costal margin brown, with a pale yellow spot at base, with a brown streak along basal 1/7; first brown fascia from between basal 1/3 and before middle of costal margin to basal 1/4 and 2/5 of dorsal margin; second brown fascia from between basal 5/8 and 3/4 of costal margin to basal 3/5 and 7/10 of dorsal margin, first and second fasciae linked by a slender brown streak on dorsal margin; fringe greyish brown. Hindwing and fringe greyish brown. Legs pale yellow on dorsal surface, cream white on ventral surface: foreleg with tibia dark brown on outer surface, tarsus blackish brown at apex; midleg with tibia bearing yellowish white bristles at middle and apex; hindleg with tibia with long ochreous brown bristles at basal 1/3, 2/3 and apex on dorsal surface respectively, tarsus blackish brown at apices of basal three tarsomeres, with ochreous brown bristles at apices of basal two tarsomeres. Abdomen with anterior half of each segment yellowish brown and posterior half yellow on dorsal surface, cream on ventral surface.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 46‒51 ). Uncus narrowed from base to apex, with long setae laterally, apex rounded, curved downward in lateral view. Gnathos tongue-shaped, apex curved downward in lateral view, with a small pointed process ( Fig. 48a View FIGURES 46‒51 ). Tegumen with height twice length of uncus. Valva wide at base, slightly narrowed to cucullus; cucul- lus elongate oval, length 2.5 times of maximum width, slightly convex dorsomedially, obtuse ventrally, rounded at apex; costa convex triangularly; inner process horn-shaped, slightly curved; sacculus 3/5 length of valva, concave near base on ventral margin, with long setae, apex broadly rounded, free from valva. Vinculum narrowly banded; saccus V-shaped, 1/3 length of uncus. Juxta oval; anellar lobes elongately conical, with long setae, twice length of juxta. Aedeagus 1.2 times length of valva, slightly tapered from base to apex, with a sclerotized plate near base; distal process 2/5 length of aedeagus, slenderly clubbed; cornutus absent.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 68 View FIGURES 67‒71 ). Intersegmental membrane between papillae anales and eighth abdominal segment 1.5 times length of papillae anales. Apophyses posteriores 1.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Eighth segment straight on posterior margin, with long setae; eighth tergite rectangular; eighth sternite triangularly produced anteriorly. Antrum sub-rectangular, width four times of length; with dense microspines on inner wall, with a sclerotized, narrowly crescent plate posteriorly. Ductus bursae widened to corpus bursae, 3/4 length of corpus bursae. Corpus bursae elongate oval; signum crescent, placed at about middle, half length of median width of corpus bursae.Appendix bursae originating from posterior half of corpus bursae posteriorly; bulla roundly inflated, located at middle.
Host plant. Callicarpa japanica Thunb. (Lamiaceae) ( Terada 2012).
Distribution. China (Zhejiang); Japan.
