Stathmopoda xanthomochla Meyrick, 1913: 90 . TL: India. TD: NHMUK.

Material examined. CHINA, Hainan: 1♀, Mt. Wuzhi , 13.IV.2009, leg. BB Hu & Q Jin, slide No. GW 12314 ; Hong Kong: 1♂, Weihai Village , 60 m, 27.IX.2009, leg. Diagnosis. This species is characterized in the male genitalia by the gnathos widened in foot shape distally, the elongate cucullus with length approximately four times of the maximum width, and the absence of the cornutus; in the female genitalia by the pear-shaped corpus bursae with a V-shaped signum. It is similar to S. apicihamata sp. nov. in the forewing pattern, and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the latter species.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 3‒12 ). Wingspan 10.5‒12.0 mm. Head with frons and vertex bronzy brown, with metallic lustre; occiput greyish black. Labial palpus white on inner surface, brown on outer surface, third segment darker. Antenna with scape black dorsally, greyish white ventrally; flagellum blackish brown. Thorax and tegula deep silvery grey. Forewing deep silvery grey, with two yellow fasciae: antemedian fascia sub-rectangular, at basal 1/4, narrowed to below costal margin, edged with dark bands formed by blackish brown scales laterally; postmedian fascia at basal 3/5, represented by a U-shaped pattern, open to apex, inner margin straight, anterior arm longer, reaching distal 1/4 of costal margin, posterior arm wider and shorter, narrowed to termen; wide rectangular blackish brown band along inner margin of antemedian fascia; fringe dark brown. Hindwing and fringe brown. Foreleg blackish brown; midleg greyish white except tibia blackish brown at base, middle and apex; hindleg with tibia greyish white, blackish brown and bearing blackish brown bristles at base, middle and apex, tarsus blackish brown in basal three tarsomeres, with blackish brown bristles at apices of basal two tarsomeres, greyish white in distal two tarsomeres. Abdomen with dorsal surface brown except each segment white on posterior margin; ventral surface shining white; blackish brown and shining white laterally.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 27‒32 ). Uncus narrowly elongate, slightly narrowed to straight apex, with long setae laterally. Gnathos slightly shorter than uncus, wide at base, narrowed to distal 7/8, then abruptly widened in foot shape, straight at apex. Tegumen slightly widened anteriorly, rounded anterolaterally, height 1.3 times length of uncus. Valva wide at base, slightly narrowed toward cucullus; cucullus elongate rectangular, length four times of maximum width, produced dorsoapically, obtuse apically; costa widened basally; inner process elongately spine-shaped; sacculus produced to a thumb-shaped free distal process. Vinculum narrowly banded; saccus triangular, 1/5 length of uncus. Juxta with anterior margin produced medially; anellar lobes long, clubbed, rounded and with short setae apically. Aedeagus nearly same length as valva, tapered from base to apex, with a semi-circular sclerite at base; distal process 1/4 length of aedeagus, bent at distal 2/7; cornutus absent.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 52‒56 ). Papillae anales longer than wide, posteriorly fused in conical shape, with short setae. Intersegmental membrane between papillae anales and eighth abdominal segment 1.5 times length of papillae anales. Apophyses posteriores 1.5 times length of apophyses anteriores. Eighth segment straight on posterior margin, with long setae; eighth sternite heart-shaped, concave at middle on posterior margin. Antrum cup-shaped, weakly sclerotized. Ductus bursae 1/5 length of corpus bursae, narrow posteriorly, slightly widened to corpus bursae anteriorly. Corpus bursae pear-shaped; signum placed anteriorly, narrowly banded, curved in V-shape, each arm curved distally. Appendix bursae arising from anterior half of corpus bursae; ductus seminalis narrow, granulous distally.

Distribution. China (Hainan, Hong Kong); India, Thailand (Robison et al. 1994: 56).
