Inachoides forceps A. Milne-Edwards 1879: 199 View in CoL , pl. 33, fig. 4.

Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♀ ov, CCDB 6445 View Materials , Ubatuba , coll. F. Zara, 24.xii.2012 ; 4 ♀ ov, CCDB 6450 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia do Itaguá , coll. F. Mantelatto, 17.ii.2010 ; 2 ♂, 7 ♀ ov, CCDB 6453 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia do Itaguá , coll. I. Leone, 04.iv.2011 ; 2 ♂, CCDB 6457 View Materials , Ubatuba, Praia do Lamberto , coll. F. Mantelatto, 03.iv.2011 .

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, Guiana, and Brazil (Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina) (Barretto et al. 1993; Melo 1996; Almeida et al. 2007b; Felder et al. 2009; Camargo et al. 2010; Pachelle et al. 2016).

Remarks. Previous records to São Paulo include Ubatuba (Bertini & Fransozo 2004; Camargo et al. 2010) and according to Melo (1996) the species is found in shallow waters up to 70m. Few small size specimens (~4.0 mm) were collected associated with algae Sargassum sp. Based upon general morphological similarities, Podochela meloi Sankarankutty, Ferreira & Cunha, 2001 was shown to be a junior synonym of Inachoides forceps ( Santana & Tavares 2009) . The small size of individuals makes the species difficult to sample as well as the identification as not a trivial task.
