Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Colombia, and Brazil (Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Powers 1977; Abele & Kim 1986; Coelho & Coelho-Filho 1994; Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000; Melo 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Marochi & Masunari 2011; Agostini & Ozorio 2018).

Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ubatuba ( Fransozo et al. 1992; Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000), and Caraguatatuba ( Braga et al. 2005). It seems that its status is unclear, since Eucratopsis Smith, 1869 was within a larger clade comprising species of Panopeus ( Thoma et al. 2014) .
