Distribution. Western Atlantic—Caribbean Sea, and Brazil (Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Bahia, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul) ( Gouvêa 1971; Heck 1977; Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1995; Bezerra et al. 2005b; Coelho et al. 2008; Melo 2008, 2010).
Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include few specimens from Ubatumirim (Bertini et al. 2004). Due to its habits and small size, it is probably difficult to find it.
