Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida), Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico, Panama, Antilles, and Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Espírito Santo, São Paulo) ( Rathbun 1901; Powers 1977; Lemaitre 1981; Williams 1984; Abele & Kim 1986; Melo & Veloso 2005; Felder et al. 2009; Alves et al. 2012a).

Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a).
