Taeniothrips variegatus (Reyes) View in CoL comb.n.

Javathrips variegatus Reyes, 1994: 229 View in CoL .

This species was described from the Philippines, Mindanao, on five females and three males, of which the holotype female and one male (in ANIC) have been studied. The head is little different from that of inconsequens View in CoL , but ocellar setae III are unusually close together ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). The antennae are shorter even than picipes View in CoL , with the apex of segment IV only weakly narrowed, however, the pronotum has only two pairs of posteromarginal setae. In the key to species ( Mound et al. 2012) this species keys to amomi, but the metanotal median setae are placed close together as in montivagus, although that has dark antennae.
