Diagnosis. Dilophotes atricollis has a characteristic colour pattern. It is the only species of Dilophotes with a dark brown to black pronotum and brightly orange red elytra. The male genitalia show a close relationship with the other species from the D. atricollis group and especially with D. berezowskii , from which it differs in colouration and by its relatively larger eyes.
Redescription. Body small to medium sized, slender, black. Pronotum black, covered with dense light brown pubescence, elytra orange red, with dense red pubescence. Head with short rostrum. Eyes small, interocular distance 1.33 times maximum eye diameter. Antennae serrate. Pronotum 1.5 times wider than long, frontal margin rounded, frontal angles inconspicuous. Lateral margins straight, posterior angles slightly projected. Disc with sharp longitudinal costa reaching from middle of frontal margin to middle of disc, keel inconspicuous basally. Scutellum slightly emarginate apically. Elytra slender, each elytron with three longitudinal costae. Costa 1 inconspicuous in apical part. Male genitalia with complex, well sclerotized internal sac, very similar to those of D. berezowskii .
Measurements. BL 7.0 mm, WH 1.43 mm, PL 0.88 mm, PW 1.32 mm, Ediam 0.36 mm, Edist 0.48 mm.
Material examined. 1 male, " Taiwan, Fenchihu, 1400 m, J. A S. Klapperich leg."; 1 female, " Taiwan, Tapang (1800), Taichunghsien, 27.7. 1983, T. Hattori leg."; l male " Taiwan, Alishan, 2 400 m, 10. 6. 1977, J. & S. Klapperich leg." ( LMBC).
Distribution. Dilophotes atricollis is endemic to Taiwan.
