Diagnosis. Dilophotes laosensis sp. n. is externally very similar to D. holzschuhi sp. n. and other dark red coloured species with small bodies. It differs by the relatively small lower plate of internal sac and the widely curved dorsal margin of upper plate ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 23 ).
Description of holotype. Body medium sized, slender, black, pronotum dark brown with light brown lateral margins, covered with light brown pubescence, elytra brightly red, with light red pubescence. Head with short rostrum. Eyes small, interocular distance 1.41 times maximum eye diameter. Antennae slightly serrate. Maxillary palpi slender. Pronotum 1.25 times wider than long. Frontal margin considerably projected, very slightly emarginate in middle, lateral margins almost parallelsided anteriorly, distinctly divergent in posterior half, posterior angles slightly projected, posterior margin weakly convex medially. Pronotal disc with sharp longitudinal costa attached to middle of anterior margin. Scutellum simply rounded posteriorly. Elytra very slender, flat, each elytron with three longitudinal costae. Costa 1 inconspicuous in apical part. Male genitalia slender, internal sac sclerotized, complex, lower plate relatively small ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 23 ).
Measurements. BL 6.0 mm, WH 1.45 mm, PL 0.88 mm, PW 1.1 mm, Ediam 0.34 mm, Edist 0.48 mm.
Distribution. Dilophotes laosensis sp. n. is known only from a lower mountain locality in the vicinity of Vientiane.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the country, where the species was collected.
