Cercopithecus (Rhinostictus) ascanius kassaicus Matschie, 1912 View in CoL
Annales de la Société royale zoologique et malacologique de Belgique 47, p. 74
Current valid name: Cercopithecus ascanius whitesidei Thomas, 1909 View in CoL
Holotype: ZMB 13483 skull, [skin missing], female, subadult; “ Pogge-Fälle am Kassai ” Democratic Republic of the Congo; collected by Frobenius, between 1904 and 1906.
Paratype: ZMB 13324 skin / ZMB 13325 skull, male, juvenile; Democratic Republic of the Congo; collected by Frobenius, between 1904 and 1906; deceased 1907 in the Zoologischer Garten Berlin .
Comment: Matschie (p. 74) listed the skin ZMB 13484 as [a part of] the holotype. However, according to catalog entry and skin label, ZMB 13484 is a male of the White-Headed Capuchin ( Cebus capucinus ) from El Boquet, Prov. Chiriqui, Panama, collected by A. Boutet. A check of the skin confirms this information. The skin of the holotype of Cercopithecus ascanius kassaicus Matschie, 1912 could not be located.
