E x a m i n e d m a t e r i a l: Holotype: Vietnam, (Kon Tum Prov.), Chu Mon Ray Mountain , Le Huu An 23-24.VI.2008.

D e s c r i p t i o n: Body length 16 mm; length from anterior margin of head to posterior margin of elytra 6.5 mm. Body almost flat. Head and pronotum black, elytra and abdomen red orange, scutellum and last three abdominal segments black; antennae brown light with the last six segments yellow pale. Head dilated, sub-spherical, with rounded sides; eyes large and a little protruding. Surface of head without micro-sculpture and micro-puncturation, with superficial ocular and frontal grooves; one big setiferous puncture at the end of the short ocular grooves, two setiferous punctures before eyes; a groove along the internal margin of eyes; some little punctures on the folded surface of tempora; some setiferous punctures near the posterior margin. Labrum as in Fig. 1 View Figs 1-4 . Pronotum sub-quadrangular, a little longer than head, narrower than it, dilated forward, with largely rounded anterior angles and sinuate sides. Surface with one puncture near the anterior angles. Elytra sub-rectangular, longer and wider than pronotum, with marked humeral angles. Surface with dense punctures, arranged in numerous, regular series. Abdomen with very fine and superficial micro-striation and superficial, dense puncturation, arranged in some series.

Tergite and sternite of the male genital segment as in Figs 2-3 View Figs 1-4 . Aedeagus ( Fig. 4 View Figs 1-4 ) 1.7 mm long, sub-spherical, with short, rounded median lobe and symmetrical, long parameres; inner sac tape-like, long and narrow, coverd with fine spinulae.

G e o g r a p h i c a l d i s t r i b u t i o n: This species is known only from the type locality in Vietnam.

E t y m o l o g y: The specific epithet refer to Vietnam.

N o t e:The Thyreocephalus known from Vietnam are the following: T. feae (FAUVEL, 1895) , T. meghalayaensis BORDONI, 2002 , T. palmi BORDONI, 2002 , T. tonkinensis BORDONI, 2002 . All these species are different from the new taxon for the body not flat, shape of labrum, coloration and aedeagus.
